Itinerary

Included Excursion
Dartmouth (half day)

For our first excursion we spend some time at leisure in the riverside town of Dartmouth. Known as the ‘Jewel of the South Hams’ and a former home to Agatha Christie, Dartmouth is easily one of Devon's prettiest destinations thanks to its views over the estuary.

Included Excursion
Plymouth (full day)

We make our way to Plymouth, with a stop on the way in Moretonhampstead, a picturesque town in Dartmoor National Park. Afterwards, we continue to Plymouth, the vibrant waterfront city known for its university and breathtaking views of the ocean. Enjoy the fresh air and the scenery while you take a stroll around the waterfront and immerse yourself in the city’s rich maritime heritage.

Optional Excursion
Dawlish & Teignmouth - £14pp (half day)

Our optional excursion takes us first to Dawlish, a quaint and friendly resort that was once a tiny fishing village until the Victorian Railway Age turned it into a thriving seaside town. It nestles between striking red sandstone cliffs overlooking a sandy beach, with the railway still running right alongside the seafront. We then make our way to Teignmouth, a handsome estuary town which has the benefits of a bustling harbour as well as the classic attractions of a seaside resort. It boasts an elegant Georgian crescent, promenade and Victorian pier with fine views across the bay.

Accommodation

Just a short distance from Torquay’s harbour, town centre and beach, the lovely Burlington Hotel offers en-suite bedrooms with a TV and tea and coffee-making facilities. The hotel also features a bar, lounge, restaurant and games room.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.

The friendly Riviera Hotel is located in the heart of Torquay, just a short walk from the beach. The hotel offers en-suite rooms with a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee-making facilities, a restaurant, a show bar with nightly entertainment and a sports bar.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
