Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2
Arrival

Continue to our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol.

Day 3
Ziller Valley Steam Train & Dairy Farm

Our first stop is the Zillertal Railway where we board a steam train for a journey along the valley of the river Ziller and take in the amazingly beautiful Zillertal Valley. We travel between the towns of Mayrhofen and Jenbach, surrounded by stunning rugged mountains. Afterwards, we enjoy a delicious cheese tasting in the local dairy farm; certain to delight all culinary tastes!

Day 4
Achensee Cruise* & Rattenberg

Today we relax on our panoramic Lake Achensee cruise, set against the imposing backdrop of the Karwendel Mountains, and take in the beautiful scenery from a different perspective. We then continue on to Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria. Built in the shadow of Rat Mountain, the town has a long history of glass-blowing plus a picturesque well-preserved medieval centre and rows of brightly-painted townhouses. Here, we visit the magical world of glass - the famous Kissling Glass factory and show room, where we watch glass blowers, engravers and painters at work.

*Please note departures in April 2025 the Lake Achensee cruise will be replaced by a trip to the Swarovski Crystal Museum

Day 5

Day 6
Optional excursion to Innsbruck (£20pp)

On our optional excursion we spend the day in the beautiful city of Innsbruck with its magnificent backdrop of snow-capped peaks. There is plenty to see around the city, including the Old Town and the Golden Roof, built for Emperor Maximilian I as a royal box from which to view tournaments in the square below.

Day 7
Krimml Waterfalls & Kitzbühel

Today we discover the natural beauty of the Austrian Tyrol as we tour some of the most picturesque parts of the region, including the stunning Krimml Waterfalls, the highest falls in Austria, and Kitzbühel, an attractive medieval town of pastel-painted houses and cobbled streets.

Day 8
Overnight stay in France

Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included.

Day 9
Return Home

Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

Accommodation

Nestled in picturesque Zell am Ziller, the Tyrolean-style Gasthof Kirchenwirt Hotel features renovated bedrooms with a balcony, TV and free Wi-Fi, plus a restaurant, beer garden and sauna.

Please note: in Austria, a twin/double room will have one double bed base structure with two separate mattresses and separate bed linen for each mattress.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
