Itinerary

Included Excursion
Brighton & Beachy Head (half day)

We head to Brighton, popular for its iconic tourist attractions such as the oriental-style Royal Pavilion with its exotic oriental architecture. Enjoy a stroll along the famous promenade or head to the ‘Lanes’ area, crammed with quirky boutiques.  Along the Sussex Heritage Coast stands Beachy Head. These dramatic 530-ft high chalk cliffs provide stunning views over Eastbourne, the English Channel, and the famous red-and-white lighthouse below.

Included Excursion
Hastings & Battle (full day)

The delights of 1066 Country await, stopping first in the coastal town of Hastings, which boasts the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror and a lovely preserved Old Town with half-timbered houses and narrow streets. Our next stop is Battle, the scene of William the Conqueror’s famous victory.

Optional Excursion
Chichester & Arundel (£14pp) (full day)

Our optional excursion takes us to the market town of Chichester, which began as a Roman settlement. Historic remains are still evident today in the town centre, spread around the market cross along with hidden gardens, secret waterways and a range of cafés. We then make our way to Arundel, with its fascinating past and contemporary culture. Nestled around a fairytale castle, the pretty streets are full of cosy tearooms, art galleries and quirky antique shops.

Accommodation

The Cavendish Hotel faces the coast on Eastbourne’s Grand Parade. The en-suite rooms offer TV and tea and coffee-making facilities. Other hotel facilities include a bar and restaurant which overlook the beach, a library and guest lounges.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.
